Really powerful work. Heartbreaking and yet hilarious. Literary and yet stark. A fantastic portrayal of the bewildering nature of being a young man, the pressure to fit into a desirable archetype, the (at the time) mundane moments that retrospectively contained meaning that will be ruminated upon for a lifetime. I've really been enjoying listening to this and I will continue to follow the work of this artist.

Memorytown is one of those audiobooks that quietly pulls you in and stays with you long after it ends. Richard's story of loss and running from grief feels raw, honest, and unfiltered. It is told with such honesty, that it feels less like a performance and more like a personal confession. Subtle, reflective, and affecting, Memorytown invites the listener not just to hear the story—but to sit inside it.

If you’re looking for something uplifting in a traditional sense, this might not be it. But if you appreciate raw, reflective storytelling about grief, and identity it really delivers.

A powerful audiobook that lingers long after it ends. Well done again Richard.

Richard, you have a wonderful voice to listen to, especially as I love Irish accents. As some of the commenters, I could listen to your voice for ages. Keep going, the first chapter is very captivating and and well done.

Thank you Jane! Really delighted you feel that way! And “captivating” is music to my ears. It’s just what I hoped for. I hope you enjoy the rest.

Every chapter has me engaged from start to finish. The writing is vulnerable and brave, offering a visceral and honest look at loss and family dynamics that I think will resonate with and help a lot of people. It perfectly captures the atmosphere of growing up in 90s Ireland balancing the nostalgia with moments that are moving and poignant. It captures the boredom of what growing up in a rural town in Ireland can be like and what that leads to for some. The narration is excellent, especially the accents! It makes the characters and descriptions feel even more authentic. I loved every minute of it and can’t wait for more! Richie Itchy Balls still makes me laugh.
